My bathroom is finished at last!

The builder arrived in the last week of October quoting 4 to 6 days to replace a water damaged wall, fit a new bath, relay a floor, tile around the shower/bath, refit the shower and paint …. after SIX weeks it was finally finished yesterday.

Today I bought blinds and accessories to make it into a beautiful tranquil room.   The paint colour is not really what I expected.  Barley Twist was ordered, it was supposed to  have beige tones, but it has turned out to be a very pale lemon.   Never mind, I can live with that as long as the tiler, the plumber, the floor layer and the painter has finally gone.

It might not be to everyone’s taste but it’s my new bathroom and I like it.

  1. I think it’s beautiful. The color is light, airy and tranquil. Glad to hear it is finally finished so you can get to enjoying it.

  2. Gorgeous! My sister was happiest last week because she her bathtub installed. Her renovation has been going for 3 months.

  3. Hi Ronnie,

6 weeks???!!! You’ve got to be kidding me?!
And I’m so glad I can get my uncle to do these things for me, or one of his contacts if he’s unable!

    1. Dreadful wasn’t it. I had to keep calling the to ask when they were coming again. Because it was an insurance claim I couldn’t read the riot act like I would have done if I was paying them. To make the story worse I put the claiming on 17 August!!!

      1. Hi Ronnie,

When my brother had his kitchen and landing done it took weeks then too when we were promised something like 10 days. We ended up eating take out most of the time because we couldn’t cook, or had to use the microwave.
I don’t know how the industry gets away with such poor service. You’d think in difficult times when they can’t buy a job, that when one does come along they’d at least provide a good service???!

  4. Hi Ronnie,
I keep trying to ‘like’ on the facebook ‘like’ icon below on your blog, but it hasn’t been letting me for some weeks now – not sure why – but, be assured, I do like it 🙂

  5. Looks lovely and I think the colour is pretty, does it go OK with the floor? Did you put the blind up yourself?

    1. Thanks Helen. It just about tones with the floor which is a bit disappointing but there is little floor space so it’s not too disastrous. That’s why I chose Barley Twist but there you go. Yes I did put up the blinds, there are two windows the other one is a small one behind the door by the bath/shower. I bought them from Dunelm this morning. I was restricted financially so anything more sumptuous such as the faux silk Austrian blinds were out of the question for the time being anyway.
