I really thought that September would be the last of this year’s offering for Garden Bloggers’ Bloom Day but the weather has been so warm lately, the flowers are getting their seasons mixed up. My earlier post A Guernsey Garden in October where azaleas are flowering and lemons are growing is a prime example.
Every GBBD I seem to show my Passion Flower. I can’t get over it this year, it grows in the smallest of pots, I forget to water it yet it continues to grow rampantly and flowering non-stop.
As you can see from the top pictures and the one below, the Passion Flower is winding its way through the fuchsias which keep flowering regardless. I expect they may be around for a good several weeks, if not months to come.
I wanted to capture the intense violet/blue of the Salvia Mystic Spires but not too sure if I have managed it. This plant is still in its pot because I have not decided yet where to place it in the garden. I may just nurture it until the Spring when the flower beds are empty and then give it a new home.
Surprise of all surprises, was that tucked away under a shrub was a primrose in flower! I had pushed it under there in the Spring and forgot all about it. The leaves look a little droopy and that is due to lack of water, I rectified that, but not until after I took the photo.
My final contribution to October’s GBBD is the swan song for my Compassion Rose. These are the very last blooms, however, with the confusion going around with the plants and shrubs, you never know, it may just flower again. Isn’t nature wonderful!!
If you hop across to May Dreams Gardens who hosts this monthly meme, you will see some of the lovely gardens in the US which are still in bloom as though it is the middle of Summer.
